Exploration 6 by Dylan Brown

     One musical group that has had a great impact on me is Led Zeppelin. This band first came into the limelight in the early 1970’s as a rock and roll band who gained worldwide recognition. Robert Plant, John Bonham, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones first started up their band in London in 1968. While initially their audience only included Londoners, they very quickly gained popularity and visited the United States and other places around the world, because they often refused television and news appearances they also had a large live audience at each of their showings.
    What makes this group so much more impactful and well known compared to other rock bands? Not only does Robert Plant have an extremely unique sound to his voice, Led Zeppelin is one of the greatest variety rock bands of all time. This may help to explain why it became so popular so quickly, almost anyone around can find a song of theirs to enjoy. Be it classic rock to a more metal feel, to even folk or eastern they truly have a song made for almost any culture.
    One classic song of theirs is called The Stairway to Heaven. Being one of their longer songs at around 8 minutes, it really shows how diverse even the group’s individual songs can be. During the beginning of the song it starts out slow and calming, almost blues-like. As the song progresses it turns into a folky-alternative rock type of song, and during the last two or three minutes it goes full classic rock and roll with air guitar included.
       The band ended up disbanding in a depressing way however, after Robert Plant was in a severe car accident in 1976 John Bonham became an alcoholic, and Jimmy Page used varying types of drugs before John died altogether from alcohol poisoning.

    Although this band was before my time, I still enjoy listening to their classic music that still comes on the radio occasionally or on my phone, with their huge variety of songs I never get bored of what they have to offer.

    I've not heard too many Led Zeppelin songs, but from what I've heard, they're very good. It's sad to hear their tragic end.

    I did not know that Led Zeppelin started out in London. An 8 minuet song is crazy. It must be good if enough people would want to spend 8 minuets just listening to 1 song. bad that they all ended up worse off after they disbanded.

    My dad is a huge Led Zeppelin fan. I grew up always listening to them in the car when i was with him. They are by far my favorite classic rock band. "Stairway to Heaven" is a great song, one of my favorites from them just behind the song, "In The Evening."

    My dad and I would always listen to Led Zeppelin and our favorite song is "Kashmir". In fact, at our high school, we had a Rock- Orchestra group and "Kashmir" would be one of our favorite songs to play.

    Why do you think most popular and famous bands/singers fall into drug and alcohol abuse? It seems like an famous artist or even just famous people seem to be addicted to drugs and or alcohol.
